Exhibition “Fight With Art” in San Francisco

17.03.2023
On Saturday, March 11th, the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco hosted the opening of the exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian comic books, which FestivALT co-organized together with Muzeum Komiksu and Ukrainian Assembly Comix.
“Fight With Art” is an exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian comic art created under extraordinary circumstances – during the time of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The works of six cartoonists living in Ukraine and Poland are presented: Kateryna Kosheleva, Inga Levi, Tania Pryimych, Yulia Vus, Masha Vyshedska, and Dartsya Zironka. Together they form a record of a moment in time of war that has been talked about in Europe for almost eighty years: “Never again”.
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ This exhibition is an attempt to celebrate the Ukrainian heart, resilience, and creative spirit. At the same time, it marks the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a time of reflection for the global artistic community. It is also a continuation of our “Fight With Art” exhibition series. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, FestivALT has presented six different exhibitions, including partnerships with the Manggha Museum, the Comic Book Museum and our most recent auction in support of Ukraine which raised close to 50,000 PLN for Ukrainian Artists and Charities.
πŸ“† The works will be on display until June 25. The curator of the exhibition is Artur Wabik from Muzeum Komiksu in Krakow.
